Be it going that extra mile to ensure a continued commitment to patient care, or trailblazing in the name of innovation, the last 12 months been an extraordinary time for the pharmaceutical industry. And what better way to mark it than with the launch of the 2017 Welsh Pharmacy Awards?

Taking place on 25th May at The Vale Resort, Glamorgan, the gala is set to attract a plethora of the most distinguished and deserving names in the sector.

This year, the top categories include Diabetes Project of the Year, sponsored by Napp Pharmaceuticals Limited.

Since 1996, the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK has risen from 1.4 million to 3.5 million. Taking into account the number of people likely to be living with undiagnosed diabetes, the number of people living with diabetes in the UK is over four million, while the prevalence in the UK is estimated to rise to five million by 2025.

With this in mind, applications for Diabetes Project of the Year are encouraged from community pharmacists, and their teams, who have implemented or developed a programme, strategy, or project which has had a positive impact on their patients’ wellbeing and management / self-management of their condition.
