Staff from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board attended a recent recruitment EXPO in Edinburgh which they hailed a success.

Health board nurses attended the event in a bid to bolster the nursing numbers. The team spoke to more than 40 candidates and team held interviews at the event and offered thirteen appointments, subject to pre-employment checks.

There were nurses and other health professionals including laboratory science, dieticians and operating department practitioners (ODP’s) interested in coming to work at the health board.

Carys Fox, Clinical Board Nurse for Specialist Services, who attended the event, said, ‘This was a fantastic opportunity for us to immediately recruit to vacancies. There was significant interest in nursing in adults, mental health and paediatrics. The majority of interest came from Nurses who will formally qualify in August.’

Ruth Walker, Executive Nurse Director, added, ‘Attracting and nurturing new and established talent is fundamental to continuing to improve the standard of care we offer to our patients. We are a unique organisation and have a lot to offer potential candidates. I’m proud to work in this health board and I encourage others to come and work here.’

The health board will be present at the next EXPO event in Dublin on 23rd April, wth doors opening from 10am – 4pm.
