Hywel Dda University Health Board’s only dedicated patient experience manager has said she is ‘over the moon’ after she was awarded a top national accolade for her work.

Anna Tee, who has held her role for the last 11 years, collected the Patient Experience Network National Award (PENNA) at a special conference recently.

The health board was also named as a finalist in PENNA’s Strengthening the Foundation category for its work on The Big Thank You, making it easier for people to give positive feedback on their experience which is shared directly with staff.

Anna’s manager, Louise O’ Connor, said that she had been ‘overwhelmed’ by her enthusiasm, commitment and passion for keeping patients at the centre of everything the health board does.

Despite being the organisation’s only dedicated resource to patient experience, Anna had not lost her drive or ambition to achieve her desired goals across the whole health board footprint, Louise added.

Speaking after the awards ceremony, Anna said, ‘I’m absolutely over the moon – it is really lovely to be recognised in this way.

‘I love working for the NHS and winning this award has definitely helped me to feel valued and even prouder of what I do.’

Louise added, ‘There are many positive examples of the work Anna has initiated to improve patients’ experiences in all of the facilities, which is a significant achievement given the limited resources she has had to undertake this.’
